It was an exciting week for Sue’s Stepper-ettes at the baton twirling and pom pon National Championships held July 21-26 at Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana. Although this national competition is an annual event, the opportunity to compete for a spot on Team USA happens just once every three years.
The Stepper-ettes began their quest to earn a spot on the coveted USA team on Tuesday, July 22nd by competing in the preliminary round of the pom pon competition. Over 25 teams were in contention. The top 5 teams advanced to the finals held on Saturday, July 26th. Only one would be named to team USA. After exciting and well executed routines from all of the top 5 finalists, it came down to two…the Modernettes from Finleyville, Pennsylvania and Omaha’s Sue’s Stepper-ettes.
“Seconds seemed like hours while we waited to hear who would be named the winner,” said team member Rachel Foehlinger. “Finally the announcements were made and we were named the champions! We will be going to Italy in 2015!”

Spring is a very busy competition season for the Stepper-ettes! On March 15th the Stepper-ettes senior teams traveled to Kansas City. The girls did an absolutely amazing job. This was the first time a lot of our new routines were revealed and we were very happy with how everything looked.
On Saturday, March 22nd the Stepper-ettes Junior National Team members as well as our Pre-Competition Team members performed at the Miss Shamrock competition held in Bellevue. It was an early morning but the girls still sparkled! For many it was their first time performing in a competition atmosphere and we could not have been more proud. Thank you very much the all of the parents who got up so early and had their daughters dressed and looking beautiful!

A big congratulations to the Stepper-ette's own Aleah Peters and Morgan Miller! They were named 2014-2015 Husker Twirlers and will light up Memorial Stadium in the fall! Aleah has been a member of the Stepper-ettes for 13 years and is a wonderful teacher and role model at the studio. She was on the World Championship team in 2009 and 2012 and is a current member of our Senior Corps. Aleah is also competing in the Miss Nebraska Pageant this June! Morgan Miller returns to the field for a second year. She is an amazing twirler who grew up in Pennsylvania but is now a Husker through and through. Morgan has also joined our Senior Corps and we are so happy to have her. It will be so exciting to see these girls take the field in the fall. Way to go ladies!!read more
